What Can You Make from Bioplastic?

Bioplastics are more than just tableware. In this interview with correspondent Dan Goldstein, Nicole Cardi of Cereplast demonstrates different products that are made from bioplastic resin.

The company's product line include compostables and sustainables. The sustainable line is up to 70 percent plant-based and includes hybrid resins. It includes a children's step stool that is 50 percent plant-based and cosmetic jars that are also a 50-50 blend. A composite desktop organizer that is more than 70 percent plant-based. Cereplast's algae resin is used to make hair accessories, like barrettes.

Cereplast plans to roll out a symbol this year to help consumers identify products that are make with bioplastics. It will be available to companies that use Cereplast resins and others across the industry to make the products more familiar to consumers.
