Patty Kim

Patty Kim is an award-winning journalist and filmmaker with nearly 20 years broadcast experience. She has served as correspondent and anchor for the National Geographic Channel in a variety of programs, including the daily newsmagazine show, National Geographic Today, the weekly magazine show Wild Chronicles (on PBS), and NG Now. Patty’s assignments have taken her all over the world – from the bottom of the uncharted Pacific Ocean off Galapagos, to the great Egyptian pyramids, to an epic journey from China to America – inside a Fedex plane! Patty also hosted National Geographic’s national radio show World Talk, where she interviewed some of the world’s top photographers, adventurers and scientists. Among her varied guests, Nobel Prize winner Al Gore, legendary rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy fame, and renowned ocean explorer, Bob Ballard, the man who discovered the wreck of the Titanic.
Patty is also host of The Jason Project, National Geographic’s award-winning educational program. Prior, she had worked as a correspondent on PBS’s Nova scienceNOW, co-hosted a flagship program on the Discovery Channel (Canada), and hosted weekly magazine shows, reported and produced feature stories on CBC Television. She also enjoys life behind the camera: Patty is the co-director, writer, producer of ABDUCTION The Megumi Yokota Story, an award-winning, feature-length documentary film that aired on PBS, the BBC, CBC, Fuji TV and many other major international networks. It was also shown theatrically in the U.S. and Japan. ABDUCTION was executive produced by Academy Award winner Jane Campion, in association with the BBC. The film won numerous awards, including the Alfred I. DuPont, one of the highest honors in American journalism. Patty is also consulting producer of the award-winning feature-length documentary, Give Up Tomorrow, which has won multiple prizes at film festivals both in the US and overseas, including the Audience Award at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. She has made appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360. Patty’s first job in television was as a weathercaster and she still thinks there's a 60 per cent chance of showers for the weekend.
