Thalia Assuras

energyNOW! Anchor Thalia Assuras’ career in broadcast journalism spans 30 years, covering national and international stories around the globe.  She has served as a network anchor and correspondent for both CBS News and ABC News, and with Canadian national television at the CTV and Global TV networks. 

An award-winning journalist, Assuras covered many of the most important stories of our time as an anchor, co-anchor and national correspondent for CBS Network News, including Congressional and Presidential elections, the September 11th terrorist attacks, the shootings at Virginia Tech, and the war in Iraq.  She was embedded as a war correspondent with the 4th Infantry Division reporting from Kuwait and Iraq in 2003 and was the sole CBS correspondent in Tikrit to cover Saddam Hussein’s apprehension. She also covered events in Iran and Afghanistan and the Kosovo refugee crisis in Albania.

 

Assuras has anchored or co-anchored CBS Morning News, the CBS Saturday Evening News and the Saturday Early Show; ABC Morning News and World News Now for ABC Network News; anchored or co-hosted Canada AM and CTV Weekend Evening News for CTV News Canada; and co-anchored broadcasts and special events for Global CanWest Television.
