Majora Carter believes, "Nobody should have to move out of their community to live in a better one," and that this notion has relevance everywhere.

Her economic solutions and inspiration for Americans living at or near poverty have been growing in popularity since 2001.

From her award winning non-profit research & development lab: Sustainable South Bronx, to her nationwide consulting work, Majora brings to light the costly human consequences of toxic vs. clean power into the economic discussion of our energy risks & potential savings.

Her work includes job-creation through targeted wetland-infrastructure restoration projects, regional food system modifications, and uncovering local economic triggers as linchpins in the structure of our changing world.

She has been named one of the 100 Most Creative in Business by Fast Company Magazine, "The Green Power Broker" by the NY Times, and "The Prophet of Local" by the Ashoka Foundation's ChangeMakers.org.  

She has consulted for numerous Universities, Municipal Governments, Regional Economic Development Organizations, Public and Private Corporations, and Major Foundations, as well as the Dept of Homeland Security, EPA, and Dept of Justice.

Her work has won numerous awards and honorary degrees, including a MacArthur "genius" Fellowship.  She has hosted several seasons of Eco-Heroes on Sundance Channel, and hosts a special Corporation for Public Broadcasting radio series called, The Promised Land.
